So start out with Umineko no Naku Koro Ni in the visual novel, then after that, then Umineko No Naku Koro Ni Chiru. There are questions and there will be hints, but the "answer" will not outright be blatantly given to you by the sound novel, but it will for the manga. Umineko fans refuse to acknowledge its existence for good reason (it's not completely terrible as a stand-alone as I did enjoy it, with it being my first Umineko experience, but compared to the novel/manga it's awful).Īny Umineko fan would recommend reading the visual novel first. But ultimately, it's still not necessary, but there are connections. Though you can just watch Higurashi and Higurashi Kai, as it would go quickly and would add into your umineko experience before-hand. No, reading Higurashi isn't necessary at all, but it does add to the experience as a character from Umineko technically is from Higurashi (don't ask, you'll just give yourself a head-ache). While Rika and Satoko are being chased by some mysterious monsters the problems keep growing: a mysterious fog falls on Hinamizawa and makes the villagers act strange.Regarding Higurashi. "Tokyo Magika" itself is a parody of the main antagonist of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, such as Takano Miyo, Okonogi, Nomura and Hōjō Teppei. The story focuses on Rika who has to become a magical girl in order to stop the evil organization "Tokyo Magika" from taking over Hinamizawa. While it seems like a completely different world, the world of Ayakashi senshi-hen overlaps with the situation in Rika's world. In this arc Rika accidentally ends up in an alternate world along with Satoko. Ayakashi senshi-hen (妖 戦し編, Demon Battling Chapter) is an anime only arc in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira.
